WOMEN’S DIVISION

MEETING AT MAURICEVILLE.

(“Times-Age” Special.)

The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville branch of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers* Union was held yesterday at the home of Mrs O. H. Nikolaisen, the room in which the meeting was held being tastefully decorated with Iceland poppies. Miss G. Heckler presided over a large number of members. Mrs J. Duncan gave a satisfactory report in connection with the library, and stated that she had been promised new books by lenders.

"Mrs Wilson, of Dryer's Rock, reported on the conference held at Welling* ton, her remarks being of an interesting nature. A competition for the best bloom resulted: Miss E. Dagg 1, Mrs Wilson 2.

The “wandering shillings" was won by Mrs E. Cheetham. It was decided to hold a “bring and buy parcel” at the next meeting, the proceeds to go towards the purchase of a croquet set for the W.D.F.U. rest home at Palmerston North.

A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mrs Nikolaisen and her daughter Miss Meryl Nikolaison. Mrs J. Duncan proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Nikolaison for the use of her home, the motion being carried by acclamation.
