RED CROSS SOCIETY WEEKLY MEETING OF CLASS. ("Times-Age" Special.) Captain Galloway, of Wellington, Dominion Secretary of the Red Cross Society, attended the .weekly class meeting, held in the Odd Fellows Hall last night and gave an interesting address on the work of the society. Supper was provided at the conclusion of the meeting. BOY SCOUTS — I EUCHRE PARTY IN AID OF FUNDS. The weekly Euchre Party held in the Odd Fellows Hall in aid of Scout Jamboree funds was well attended. The prize winners were: —Ladies, Mrs Charles, 1; Mrs Lowell. 2; men: Mr Rae, 1; Mr Smith 2. RIVER RISES RAPIDLY MELTING OF SNOW ON RANGES. As a result of the warm rains melting the snow on the ranges the Tauherenikau River rose very rapidly yesterday morning. There was every indication of a flood, but about noon the water receded as rapidly as it had risen. STUD ROMNEYS SOLD TO CLIENT IN AUSTRALIA. Mr R. P. H. Hardy, the well-known stud Romney breeder has sold to a client in Australia 10 stud ewes, which were consigned to Sydney by the Awatea yesterday. FIRE BRIGADE PRESENTATION TO C. CHALMERS. At the monthly meeting of the Featherston Fire Brigade. Deputy-Supt Boston presided over a full muster of members. Correspondent was received from the Eketahuna and Silverstream. Brigades inviting the Brigade to attend their annual dance. It was resolved that the Brigade bo represented at both functions. It was decided to procure sets of buttons to complete old tunics. It was reported that during the month several members attended the Marlinborough annual reunion. They were well received and given a very enjoyable time. Fireman Walker made application for a 2-year gold bar, completing 31 years’ service. Deputy-Simt. Boston presented a two year silver bar to Fireman C. Chalmers. completing 13 years service. His (service to the Brigade was eulogised bv Dcputy-Sunt Boston. Fireman Chalmers suitably replied. Fireman Davidson was granted one month's leave of absence. Owing to the meeting room having been used bv unauthorised nersons. it was unanimously decided that in failure drastic action bo taken against ■such persons. A notice to this effect is to be placed in the meeting room. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs J. McKenna, of Petone. are visiting Featherston. Mrs P. Bennett, who had been on a visit to Fernside, has returned to her home in New Plymouth.
