Stevens v Mrs Gustofson; Miss Hamer v Miss V. Corlett; Miss Peters v Miss B. Crawley; Miss Orr v Miss Lane. Misses N. and P. Renall will be in charge of afternoon tea. WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division held recently was well attended and was presided over by Mrs E. W. Allen (president). Motions of sympathy were parsed to Mesdames A. T. Hawke, E. Rayner, K. Hodder, W. A. Kempton and N. S. Cadwallader who had suffered bereavements, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. The principal business was in connection with the Baby Carnival which is to provide funds for the erection of a rest room near the Memorial Square. It was reported that the committee was working hard and everything was well forward for the various functions , which were being held for the purpose. Miss Molly Jensen, of Road, was announced as the winner of a box of sweets in connection with a competition for the Dalefield baby. Reports of the Dominion Conference were given by those delegates, who attended the meeting and the annual report of the Dominion Secretary, Mrs Smith, was read.
The monthly competitions were won as under: Gingerbread: Mrs Allen 1. Mrs K. Reid 2. Best plan of kitchen: Miss P. Renall 1. Miss N. Renall 2. Best bloom, Mrs L. Rayner 1, Mrs S. Swan 2. Best shrub, Mrs Geo Cooper 1. Mrs E. Allen 2. The colours decided upon for the three competing babies are: Parkvale, Dorothy Rayner (blue); Dalefield, Vernot Fitzgerald (green); ClarevilleTaratahi, John Corbett (gold). Personal. Members of the staff of Messrs W. Booth and Co’s timber yards assembled as the yards to farewell one of their workmates, Mr Sam Kay, who has retired. The manager, Mr Fred Knutson, referred to Mr Kay's services with the firm for the past 33 years. Mr Kay. he said, had been a valued employee for that period, and he wished to express his own personal appreciation of Mr Kay's help and assistance. On behalf of the staff he asked Mr Kay to accept an afternoon tea set with the best wishes of all for his future prosperity. Mr Kay suitably replied.
