The Bombay correspondent of "The Times" says that on account of waler scarcity and a failure of crops and fodder, famine face large tracts of Western India unless rain falls within a week. A heavy mortality amongst cattle is reported from Kathiawar and other districts. The population is leaving some districts for the towns owing to food shortage.
