METHODIST CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held at the Parsonage, Lincoln Road, Mrs F. J. Parker presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Elliott, Daniell, Shoosmith, Madsen and Speight. The Rev. F. J. Parker introduced the Rev. H. J. Odell, the assistant superintendent for Home Missions. Members were pleased to have the opportunity of meeting Mr Odell and hearing about the work in the Home Mission Field. A letter was received from the Rev. R. B. Gosnell, manager of the Centennial Exhibition Committee, asking for a donation from the Guild towards the expenses of the stand of the United Churches in the Exhibition. It was decided that the next Guild should take the form of a recipe afternoon, members to take a cake and its recipe. The money received from .he sale of the cakes will be donated to the committee in charge of the Exhibition Stand. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs G. G. Hancox, who gave an interesting description of the various activities of the Guild at the Cuba Street Methodist Church, Palmerston North. Mrs J. H. Handyside expressed the thanks of the meeting to Mrs Hancox for her very fine address. The pronouncing of the benediction brought the meeting to a close.
