MEETING OF MASTERTON BRANCH. THE TRUBY KING MEMORIAL APPEAL. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket Rooms yesterday afternoon. Those present were: —Mesdames J. Caselberg (president), D. Donald, J. D. O’Connor, W. A. Michael, E. G. Eton, T. Jordan, J. V. Gordon, C. A. Carmine, A. Ericson, J. M. James, N. Irwin, E. G. Norman, A. H. Falloon, H. Morrison, P. Nathan, T. F. Watson, R. C. Drummond. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames H. H. Daniell, T. W. Wardell, E. Sortain Smith, S. L. P. Free, A. F. Stewart, R. F. R. Beetham and J. M. Coradine. A vote of thanks was passed to the Masterton Borough Council and Trust Lands Trust for grants promised to the branch. Leave of absence for two months was granted to the hon secretary, Mrs S. L. P. Free. The hon treasurer presented accounts amounting to £36 14s 3d. The following members were elected to the executive: —Mesdames J. Caselberg, J. M. Coradine, S. L. P. Free, J. D. O’Connor, H. H. Daniell, T. F. Watson and A. F. Stewart. Thanks were expressed to Mrs T. Jordan for an informative account of the Provincial Conference held in Wellington on July 28. It was mentioned there that the period of the Truby King Memorial Appeal had been extended. Up to date the amount collected locally is £62 4s 4d. Further donations will be accepted gratefully. A cheque for £3O from the Tinui sub-branch, being its annual payment towards the nurses’ salary and travelling expenses, was received with thanks. Thanks for gifts of clothing and knitted garments were expressed to the following. Mesdames W. Dalziell, E. Dalziell, G. Ross, S. Dean, C. A. Cameron, Miss Vincent, the SolwayManaia Institute and Mrs Schliereki, and also to Mrs R. Page, the W.F.C.A. and Messrs Hugo and Shearer, for help given at the annual meeting. The nurses’ report for June and July stated: —Visits to office: June, adults 393, babies 356, prc-school children 135 telephone 114; total, 998. July: adults 255, babies 262, pre-school children 28, telephone 99; total, 654. Visits to homes, June, 65, new cases 224; total, 289; July, visits to homes 46, new cases 275 total 321. New cases for June, 15; July, 13. Total number of babies on books, June, 381; July, 397; older children, June, 315; July, 315. Out-stations: Langdale, Whareama, Blairlogie, two visits in June and one in July; Tinui, three visits in June; visits to homes, 11 in July; visits to old cases, 34 in June; visits to new cases, one in June. Mauriceville subbranch: Kopuaranga, Hastwells, Mauriceville East, Mangamahoe and Mt. Bruce, two visits in June and two in July; visits to new cases, June, 2; July 3; visits to old cases, June, 20; July, 23; total, 22 in June and 26 in July. Lectures in child nursing were given to the Girl Guides, Solway College and Wairarapa College girls.
