EKETAHUNA

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age" Special.) The monthly riieeting of the Eketahuna Women’s Institute was held on Monday afternoon in St. Cuthbert's Hall. Mrs Carter presiding. There was a fair number cf members and visitors, the meeting being opened with the singing of the National Anthem, the Ode to Friendship, and the recital of the Institute prayer for peace. The vice-presidents, Mesdames Albrechtsen and Fraser, then took charge of the programme.

Mrs Fox sang “Love’s Old Sweet Song." being accompanied by Mrs Olivant. Mrs Fraser stated that the meeting would be the last one Mrs Fox would be present at. She thanked her for the work she had always so willingly given to the Institute, and presented her with a beautiful bouquet. The members then sang “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Mrs Fox suitably replied. Mrs Fraser gave a demonstration on tapestry and had some very beautiful finished articles on view. The Roll Call was "The Dress I Like Best,” and all seemed to have a favourite dress.

i Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. Mesdames Price and Daniel. Mrs Oliver was in charge of the “Bring and Buy” stall. The competitions were as follow:—Buttonhole: Mrs Baucke, 1; Mrs McAlister, 2; Mrs Wilson, 3. Date scones: Mrs Price. 1; Mrs Fraser and Mrs Albrechtsen, tie for 2; Mrs Baucke, 3. A show of work for the Centennial Exhibition will be held later. MINIATURE RIFLES EKETAHUNA v MANGAMUTU. The following are the scores in the match fired between Eketahuna and Mangamutu for the Byrne Shield at Eketahuna last night:— Eketahuna: W. Dawson 93. R. Holford 94, J. P. Sigvertsen 94, F. Sigvertsen 98, H. Price 96. Mrs R. Duncan 100, R. Duncan 66, W. Hornblow 90 A. Frederickson 88, R. Farrow 92. total 911.

Mangamutu: A. Tait 98, L. Heayns 98, J. D. Thomson 94, W. Feasey 98, L. Parker 99, R. Keats 97, B. Brady 94, W. Jaques 90, R. Yewen 96, W. Cheyne 85. total 949.
