NELSON WINS HANDICAP RACE

On Saturday the Kiatere Harrier Club held a 6| mile open handicap race from Solway. D. Nelson (6.15) was the first to go. R. Searancke (5.30) was next and then A. Addison (4.15). After them came L. Frances (3.45). W. MacDonald and W. Burns (40sec) and W. Burgess (scratch). At the end of the first lap I). Nelson was running very easily in the lead with R. Searancke next, with R. Frances and A. Addison 300yds further back. P. Nelson was never headed, and won by 200 yds from R. Searancke. W. Burgess and 1,. Frances had a thrilling sprint in to dead heat for third place, 100yds behind R. Searancke.

The juniors held a 3 1-8 mile open handicap over one lap of the senior course. Oil' the 1.40 mark C. Summers ran his best race to date winning very easily from ,1. Hodgetts. F. Sexton, who ran very determinedly off scratch, loft his eo-markers. M. Payle and N. Jacobsen, halfway round, to come in third, 20 yards behind Hodgetts. Detailed placings —Seniors, D. Nelson (41.40), 1; R. Searancke (42.34), 2; W. Burgess. L. Francis (43.1). equal. 3. Fastest times: W. Burgess, 37.16. W. MacDonald 37.34. W. Burns. 38.32. Juniors: —C. Summers (24.21), 1; J. Members will attend training at the Park Oval on Tuesday and 'Thursday nights at 7.30 p.m. in preparation for the interelub run against Olympic Club in about three weeks' time. Next Saturday the run will be held from Morison's Bush. MASTERTON CLUB. A PACK RUN. The Masterton Harrier Club hold a pack run of 6' miles over the Golf link’s hills course on Saturday afternoon. The trail was laid by Messrs R. N. Shaw and D. Cairns. After a short spell it was pleasing to sec C. K. Long turn out again.

W. A. C. Pullar, after warming up. had a fast 2-mile work-out on the Park Oval, in preparation for the Provincial Championship race at Havelock North next Saturday.
