Australian Hurdle Race: Green Cape. 11.2 (Dummett). 1; Bridge of Dee. 9.1 (Venn). 2: Terka. 9.0 (Jennings), 3. Cape Race and Grey Lash were scratched. Seven started. Wongawill. Terka and Green Cape opened a good gap from the rest of the field. Mac Devon fell and Cherry Jack blundered badly and lost ground, while Restford tailed the field. Green Cape took charge at six furlongs and won comfortably by three lengths and a half, with Terka 13 lengths away third: then after a long interval came Cherry Jack, Restford and Wonawill. Time. 6.10 a. Moondah Plate: Hilton, W. R. Kemball’s g., by Beaupere—Awaken, 8.10 (Mernemont), I; Manrico. 9.10 (Badger), 2; Elgolea, 9.11 (Dewhurst), 3. Eight started, including Lynch Law. Head; three lengths. Time, 1.14',. Hilton was named after a former resident of Masterton. Harry Hilton, who is studmaster for Mr W. R. Kemball, at one time of Masterton. ROSEHILL RACES WIN FOR LEGION BIRD. SYDNEY, August 6. The following are principal results in the Rosehill races yesterday:— Flying Handicap. 6f.: Rodborough. 8.7 (Watterson), 1; Speardale, 9.5 (Bartie). 2; Bonny Loch. 8.2 (W. Cook), 3. Eleven started, including Aladdin. Neck: length and a half. Royal Prince was fourth. Time. 1.13.7. j
August Handicap, l.'m.: Legion Bird. 7.12 (O’Sullivan). 1: Sydney, 7.1 (Smith), 2; Gimme. 7.3 (Harvey). 3. Seven started, including Edible. Half a neck; half a length. Time, 2.7.
