LATE MR CADWALLADER FUNERAL AT CLAREVILLE. . ~ (“Times-Age” Special.) ' The funeral of the late Mr John Joseph Cadwallader. of Ahiakouka, took place at the Clareville Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The esteem in which deceased was held was shown by the large and representative attendance. Many floral wreaths covered the casket. A short service was held at the residence of the deceased by the Vicar of St Mark's Church, the Rev W. F. Stent, who also officiated at the graveside. The funeral ritual of the Druids' Lodge was read by District President Bro A. Stretton. The pall bearers were Bros P. Reid and C. Zillwood (Druids’ Lodge) and Messrs R. Gallon and O. Petersen (Working Men’s Club), G. A. Vincent and G. McKenzie (Wairarapa Trotting Club). CLAREVILLE HALL CARD TOURNAMENT. The fortnightly card tournament in connection with the Clareville Hall committee was held last evening. There was a large attendance, and a very pleasant time was spent. Those who won the prizes for the cards were: Ladies, Mrs Edwards and Mrs Mellish, tied for the prize and divided. Men: Mr Clough 1, and Mr F. Daysh, 2. The consolation prizes went to Mrs Morgan and Mr R. Banks. For the dance Held afterwards Mr S. Fisher was M.C. and Mr J. Edwards played the music. A sumptuous supper was afterwards handed round and greatly enjoyed. THE NEW COMET SEEN BY SEVERAL RESIDENTS. Several residents report having seen the new comet in the eastern sky on Friday morning, between three and four o’clock. They state that they have seen the visitor under exceptionally clear conditions, it being very brilliant, with a long flaming tail. When seen it appeared to be travelling at great speed and dancing in the sky.
