Miss K. Langdon, Tinui, is staying at Paraparaumu Beach. Miss Nancy Morrison, “Awatoitoi,” is visiting the South Island. Nurse Berry, of Wellington, is on a visit to Eketahuna. Miss Rae Harrison, Essex Street, Masterton, has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Miss G. Kebbell, Ohau, is the guest of Mrs Trevor Beetham, “Towcett,” Perry Street, Masterton. Miss Dorothy Stilborn, Tinui, is spending a few days at Paraparaumu Beach.
The Misses Kummer, Cole Street, Masterton, who have been spending a holiday with Mrs P. Kummer, “Kummerstein,” have returned home. Mrs Wardell (Dunedin) is spending a short .holiday in Masterton and is staying with Mrs C. T. R. Richardson, The Terrace, Lansdowne. Miss E. M. Simmers, formerly of Eketahuna, sister in charge of the Dominion Ward of the Dunedin Hospital, is at present at home convalescing from an attack of tonsilitis. A dinner party at their home at Matakohe, North Auckland, yesterday, marked the silver wedding celebrations of the Rt Hon and Mrs J. G. Coates. They were married on the day that war was declared. Mrs Coates was formerly Miss Marjorie Coles, daughter of Dr Coles, London. The celebrations were attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Many presents and messages were received from all parts of the Dominion. A lady with very little to say on the Monterey at Auckland yesterday morning was Mrs Walter Nash, wife of the Minister of Finance. “I had a lovely trip, but there is very little I can say. It was my husband who went on business, not I.” Mrs Nash was enthusiastic over the hospitality of the English people, who were very kind •indeed, she said. “I am glad to be home, though,” added Mrs Nash, who intends to remain in Auckland till the arrival of Mr Nash from England, via America.
