There was good competition for a large offering of sheepskins and hides at the'sale held yesterday by the Wellington brokers. Sheepskins: An advance of jd to Jd a lb was recorded on sound lots, with

a marked improvement also on damaged and seedy lines, as compared with prices ruling at the previous auction. Hides: When compared with the previous sale hc-ld a month ago, medium and heavy grades of ox were l-8d to 3-8 d alb lower. Light ox and cow advanced by a 1 -8d to ,‘,d ti lb, yearling and heavy calf by 3-8 a lb. while light calf were fully firm. The following is the range of prices: Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 7d to 9d; fine crossbred, 7:;d to lO'd: medium crossbred. G.]d to 10d; coarse crossbred, 7d to iOd; halfwools, 6d to 9d; quarter wools, 5d to Old; pelts, 2d to 4Jd.
