STOCK MARKET
FEILDING SALE. RISE IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ■d FEILDING, August 4. ; s The marked feature of the stock sale conducted in Feilding today was the decided rise in the prices for fat sheep, a special line of extra good quality ewes going up from 4s to a head. j. The entry was of particularly good quality, and. with freezing interests 6 and butchers operating freely, bidding 0 was spirited. Wethers were relatively g cheaper than ewes; nevertheless a firm 0 demand at higher prices was shown. 0 Lambs shared also in the advanced ra--3 tes for store sheep. The inquiry re2 rnained keen for better quality young q ewes, but aged lines not showing clean and in fresh condition were slow of 0 sale. Good ewe lambs made competitive rates. Mainly lamb values were unchanged. The small entry of store cattle did • not create much attention, boner cow prices again being strong, with a fair ) demand existing for the few head of 3 run stock yarded. Fat cattle made a 3 better sale, the top quality female beef 3 advancing in price. The finish on the > majority of the stock was not good, ’ most of it being lightweight. Outside ■ buyers were present at dairy section. > bringing keen competition for the bet--3 ter quality heifers. Cows nearing > profit and later calving sorts showed I no change in price. > Prices are:— > Sheep: Prime fat hoggets, 21s 8d to 22s 7d; good, 19s lOd to 21s; light, from 14s 9d; prime wethers, heavy 22s to 22s 3d, good weights 17s 6d to 20s 7d. light, ’ from 17s 3d; prime b.f., 22s 4d to 22s , 7d; good weights, 20s to 21s 7d; others [ from 17s 2d; prime maiden ewes, 21s ( 6d; prime ewes, to 24s Id, an extra good line 25s 3d, good 21s 3d to 235, ( light from 13s Id; two-tooth ewes, r.w.
