WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
SOCIAL GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The August meeting of the Martinborough Women's Institute took the form of a social gathering which was much enjoyed. Mrs Jolly presided in the absence of Mrs J. Lamb. A musical competition was won b_> Mrs Wilson. A dramatised reading was presented by the following members of the Drama Club: Mesdames Caseley MacGregor, Sadd, Knell. Jolly, Lawrence and L. Chapman. Mrs D. C. Pryor being the producer. The Misses McNally sang a duet. An interesting competition was won by Mrs Mason. A shoulder spray competition resulted: Mrs Knell, 1; Mrs Pryor, 2. Two new memoers were nominated and welcomed. Itwas decided to visit the Buchanan Home on Tuesday, August 8. Those desiring conveyance should communicate with the secretary al an early date. Gifts of cakes, etc., are to be left with Mrs Tyler or Mrs L. Chapman, secretary. Personal Items. The friends of Mr J. Lamb will be pleased to hear that he has returned home after having been an inmate of a private hospital in Wellington for several weeks.
.Mrs M. A. Quin has returned home after spending a lengthy holiday in Auckland.
Mr M. A. Quin and Mr J. A. McDougall will be visitors to Christchurch for the Grand National Meeting. Mr A. Sutherland, of Wellington, is visiting Martinborough. Mr D. C. Pryor is on a visit to Wellington on education business.
Mrs Galpin has been visiting her daughter, Mrs G. Simpson.
