ST. LUKE’S GUILD

MEETING OF MEMBERS

(“Times-Age” Special.)

A meeting of members of St Luke’s Ladies’ Guild was held at the residence of Mrs Kidd yesterday. Mrs York presided. The members stood in silence for a brief space in sympathy with Mrs Davis who had recently been bereaved. Apologies were received from Miss Tate, Mesdames Day, Burch, Beu and Davis.

Mrs York reported on the success of the Shop Day. the amount realised being £l2 19s 4d. It was proposed by Mrs Wiggins that a vote of thanks be passed to the ladies who had charge of the stall, especially to Mrs Sykes who made the cake. The motion was carried.

The president said that the Guild should place on record the valuable service of Mrs Everett as temporary secretary. She also welcomed Mrs Shedden as the new secretary.

The president reported that the old piano at the Parish Hall had been sent to the mart for disposal. A discussion followed regarding the Gipsy Fair. Mrs Wood proposed and Mrs Shedden seconded that each member bring an article for the ithvelty stall to the next meeting. The motion was carried.

Mrs Sykes proposed that the Sunday School children help with the bran tub. and conduct a pocket handkerchief stall. This was agreed to. Mrs York pointed out the necessity for conveniences being built at the Parish Hall and commended this work to members for their support. The matter was left to the president and secretary to obtain estimates. A delightful afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs and Miss Kidd, for the use of her home for the meeting. Hockey Teams. The Greytown junior team to play College A at Masterton at 2.45 p.m. on Saturday will be as follows: —McKenzie, Raison, Barnard, Hood, Connolly, Greathead, Harris, Dawber. Dennes, Bouzaid, McKenzie. The Scout team to play Carterton B at Carterton on Saturday is as follows: —Hay, Trotman, Anker, Skeet. Brabender, Trotman, Brabender, Anker, Day, Jury, Hobson.

Eager Golf Trophy.

The final round for Mi- G. Eager’s trophy will be played on Saturday afternoon.
