Stevens, saw the Governor (Lord Wakehurst) again last night and tendered his Ministry’s resignation. At the Governor's request. Air Stevens will carry on for the next few days. The “Herald” says hostility between the Leader of the Country Parly. Mr M. I<\ Brnxner, and Mr E. S. Spooner militates against the latter’s chances of securing the leadership. and Air A. Mair is considered to have a reasonable chance of defeating Air Spooner. An earlier message stated that members of Cabinet, when interviewed last night, indicated that the Government was not without hope of carrying on, since, four of its supporters were absent when the division was taken yesterday, two through illness and the other two travelling abroad. An attempt may be made, it was added, to elect a new leader acceptable to both the United Australia Party and the. Country Party.
