ORATORY CONTEST
WAiRARAPA COLLEGE PUPILS.
FINALISTS JUDGED YESTERDAY.
Following on elimination tests carried out by the teachers, the finalists in the Wairarapa College oratory contest were judged yesterday afternoon. Mrs Max Cleghorn judged the seniors and Mr J. P. Farrell the juniors. The winners were: Seniors (Hatch Cup), Pat Baskiville; juniors (Le Moyne Cup) Heather Douglas. Both judges complimented the girls on their performances and gave suggestions as to how to make a further improvement. The finalists in the respective sections and the subject chosen in each case were:
Seniors: G. Hanley (Stalin), Valeri’e Fitzgerald (R. J. Seddon), Connie Shearer (Paul Rojbeson), Pat Baskiville (Mary Queen of Scots), Elaine Hanley (Emmett).' Juniors: Lucy Wilton (Jawahalal), Berris Perrin (Dr Bakeland), Coralie Cairns (John Milton), Yvonne Foster (C. T. Studd), N. Towns (General Gordon), Heather Douglas (Leonardo di Vinci).
