SOCIAL SECURITY ACT

NO INCREASE IN HOSPITAL PATIENTS. POSITION IN MASTERTON. “It has not made any difference at all as far as this hospital is concerned." said Mr Norman Lee, managing-secre-tary of the Wairarapa Hospital Board, referring this morning to the effect of the operation of the Social Security Act in relation to free hospital treatment. “The number of patients has not increased in the Masterton Hospital as the result of the Act and we are just carrying on the same as before.’’ Mr Lee added that the board was still having some difficulty in getting the registration numbers of the patients. This information, of course, was essential to the board in making application to the authorities for payments in respect to patients.
