AIR EXERCISES
ON UNPRECEDENTED SCALE IN BRITAIN LATEST METHODS OF ATTACK AND DEFENCE. TERRITORIALS TO CO-OPERATE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. August 1. This year’s exercises of t lie Noya I Air Force, to take place from next Tuesday, will lie on a larger scab* than ever before. In the manoeuvres, which include important night operations, there will be engaged more than 1000 planes of differenl types—bombers, fighters, and scouting machines —and a ground staff of 20,000.
The latest methods of attack and defence will be tested in operations of a magnitude never before possible. Coinciding with the territorial camp season, the exercises will enable members of anti-aircraft and observer corps to co-operate. A blackout over 27 counties, including London, in the early hours of August 10 is incidental to the manoeuvres.
