STUD ROMNEY EWES
SHIPMENT TO AUSTRALIA.
Included in a large number of sheep which left Wellington per Awatea on July 21, were six very attractive mixed aged stud Romney ewes consigned to one of lhe leading Romney breeders in Western Australia.
These sheep which are a great credit to the New Zealand Romney breed, were specially selected from the wellknown “Mangamaire” flock of Mr J. E. Hewitt, Pahiatua. The Stud Stock Department of Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., were instructed to select six outstanding ewes of various ages for show purposes in Western Australia.
By the large number of enquiries received from Australia during recent months it is very encouraging to realise that the Australian Romney breeders are now aiming fit quality in their stud Romneys, and these six ewes which are in lamb to Mr Hewitt’s top sires and also contain some of the best blood in his stock, will go a long way towards building up the good name that New Zealand has for stud stock. In all probability this small shipment will be the forerunner of further orders from Western Australia for highclass Romneys.
