WOOL MARKET
WINTER SALE AT AUCKLAND. KEEN COMPETITION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. August 1. An average bench of buyers, representing Bradford, Continental. American. and local mills, competed keenly, but frequently failed to roach sellers' reserves, at the Auckland winter wool sale today, when 2350 bales of oddments and crutchings were offered. Nearly half the offerings were passed in unsold.
Bradford buyers were the principal operators; Americans bid keenly, but there was little wool suited to their needs. Fleece wools showed a rise of about 2Jd on the January sale, while lambs' wool, finer crutchings, locks, and pieces, sold at improved prices. Heavy-conditioned and seedy crutchings were neglected.
