USEFUL HINTS. Boiled bacon acquires a new delicacy in flavour when the cook adds to the water a teaspoonful of vinegar, two or three cloves, and a spatter of nutmeg.

For a weak digestion boiled flour is advised. Boil in a cloth for five hours, set aside to cool; take off the outside film of light crust and grate down the remainder. It is excellent for children and invalids.

Discarded powder-puffs, washed and dried make excellent pads for using with cleaning powders. Make stock for soup the day before it is required. The fat can then be lifted off easily.

Old grease-stains on white wood can bo removed by applying a paste of fuller’s earth and leaving it on for a whole day. Scrub afterwards.
