FARMERS’ LORRIES
REMISSION OF HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES. AMENDING LEGISLATION SOUGHT “That the Dominion Head Office be requested to press for legislation to be put through during this session of Parliament, not only validating the action of individual counties in remitting heavy traffic licence fees on farmers’ lorries, but also for the major issue that heavy traffic licence fees on farmers’ trucks used solely for the carriage of their own produce and for their own requirements be abolished” was a resolution passed at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union. . Mr W. J. Thomas moved the motion, which was seconded by Mr J. M. James. . Several members urged that every endeavour should be made to secure legislative action as soon as possible. The motion was carried unanimously.
