SALVATION ARMY
VISIT DY PETONE BAND. The Pel one Salvation Army Band will be visiting Masterton for Saturday and Sunday next. This band is one of the best the Salvation Army has in New Zealand. The tone is spoken of by experts as being particularly jiloasant to listen to and there is an absence of the blare which is associated with many larger combinations. The band plays hymn tunes very sweetly and Masterion people who are fond of the old hymns should not fail to hear their favourites. Some of the grand music of the masters, too, will be presented. These include Gounod, Handel and many others. The band, too, plays good march music, and will be heard to advantage on the Masterton streets during the weekend. Bandmaster H. Dutton has had considerable experience of brass band work. He was for some years the bandmaster of the National Staff Band, Melbourne, and has had considerable military band training as well. The concert by the band next Saturday night promises to be one of the best. Major Goffin, the secretary for Salvation Army Bands for the Dominion, will preside over all the band s engagements during the coming weekend.
