- BIDEFORD DEFEAT TYNESIDE. - IN ANNUAL MATCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual match between Tyneside and Bideford was played at Tyneside under fair conditions during the weekend. Bideford proved their superiority, especially with regard to the men. who won most of their games. Undoubtedly Bideford have a fine team of sports and this fixture is always anticipated with great enthusiasm by Tyneside players who though beaten on this occasion greatly appreciated the fine sporting spirit of their opponents. It was unfortunate that several of the stronger Bideford lady players were unable to travel, otherwise the result on the ladies’ side may have been vastly different.
The following are the results of the games. Bideford players being mentioned first in each instance: —
Men’s fourball: R. Plummer and C. Percy beat O. Williams and K. McDonald; D. Falloon and J. Donald and N. Kummer and H. Beetham. all square; R. Falloon and E. Wrigley beat O. Sykes and W. Gillies; H. Bell and G. Joy .and J. Ross and H. Nitz, all square; C. Larsen and lan Talbot lost to W. Bannister and F. Whyte; A. Juno and -Wilf. Bannister beat E. Williams and A. Burrows; G. McKay and F.
