CRIPPLED CHILDREN
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA SOCIETY. GOOD WORK BEING CARRIED OUT. The fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society was held on Monday, Mr E. M. Hodder presiding. A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr C. E. Daniel! was passed. Mr Hodder being asked to convey the sympathy of the members of the executive to them. Reports were received from the Principal of 11..- Wairarapa College regarding the progress of three crippled children who were attending the College. It was pleasing to note that the children are working well and making satisfactory progress.
Arrangements have been completed for suitable lodgings in Wellington during the time that treatment is being obtained by a young girl. It was reported that the Returned Soldiers’ Association had given a number of crippled children an outing at the “Paddy’s Market" hall recently. A letter of thanks is to be sent to the R.S.A. for giving the children a very enjoyable day. Authority was given for materials to be provided for dressmaking classes being attended by two girls. The resignation of Mr S. Smith from the General Committee was accepted with regret. Mrs A. Keir, Mrs Carne Bidwill and Miss B. Donald were elected as annual members.
Donations are gratefully acknowledged from the Martinborough Borough Council and an anonymous donor.
