WRESTLING
BLOMFIELD BEATS JONES. LOSER PROTESTS AGAINST DECISION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Lofty Blomfield beat Paul Jones by two falls to one in last night’s wrestling bout at the Wellington Town Hall, but Jones has officially protested against the referee's decision. The referee was Mr Alf Jenkins. Blomfield obtained a fall in the fourth round wij.h an octopus clamp. In the seventh Jones set the score even, pinning Blomfield while he held him breathless in a boa-constrictor-like hook body scissors. He obtained the same hold in the last round, which lasted little more than a minute: just as Jones seemed certain of a fall Blomfield hooked a foot over the ropes and rolled Jones on to his shoulders, in which position he held him for the count of three. Jones contested the referee's decision, and afterward lodged an official protest to the Wellington Wrestling Association. The bout was a very rough one.
