FEATHERSTON

HOCKEY CLUB DANCE SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Hockey Club's dance held in the Anzac Hall was a very successful affair. These dances are so popular that they may be held weekly in future. Miss Grace Fraser supplied the music while extras were played by Messrs Chas. Buck, Ron Sadler and Bob Barnard. Mr Chas. Buck carried out the duties of M.C. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr and Mrs W. Davis, and the Statue Log Cabin by Mr R. Sadler and Mrs Skipage. Supper was supplied by the Hockey Club's committee. EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE GATHERING AT PAHAUTEA. There was a good attendance at the euchre parly and dance in the Pahautea Hall on Saturday night. The card winners were: —Ladies: Miss M. Bargh, 1; Mrs I. Frew. 2. Men: Mr V. Fenwick. 1; Mr Ackerman. 2. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr V. Wood and Miss P. Warrington. FAREWELL GATHERING MR & MRS R. R. P. HARDY. A number of Western Lake settlers gathered at "Gumgrove,” the residence of Mr and Mrs Roy Donald to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs R. R. P. Hardy, who for a number of years have been farming in the Western Lake district and who will shortly leave to live in Featherston. A happy time was spent in games, community singing and competitions. The winners of the latter being Mr and Mrs R. Donald and Mrs D. Burt. Mrs B. Burt gave several songs which were much appreciated. Mr Cole in an appropriate speech extended to Me and Mrs Hardy their best wishes for their future welfare and made them a small presentation. After a dainty supper the gathering was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Personal. Mrs J. Jepson. South Featherston, is visiting her sister. Mrs W. Crawford, of I fastings. National Party Dance. The National Party dance which is to be held on Monday night promises to be a most enjoyable function and the committee is working hard to ensure its success. The Wairarapa Pipe Band will supply extras. Visitors are expected fiom the National Party’s headquarters in Wellington.
