LONDON QUOTATIONS BUTTER MARKET SLOW. CHEESE PRICES LOWER. The London butter market is slow, according to the report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board. New Zealand choicest salted butter on Friday was quoted at 122 s to 1245, a decline from 2s to 4s a cwt on the week.
Friday's closing quotations, with those of the preceding week in parentheses, were as follows:— New Zealand, salted, 122 s to 124 s (1265; a year ago, 121 to 1225); unsaltcd, 1235, ex 125 s ( —; a year ago, 122 s to 1235).

Retail prices have increased. New Zealand to Is 3d and Danish to Is 4d a lb.
The present price of 124 s is equal to approximately 14.87 d per lb, f.0.b.. New Zealand ports, compared will) the guaranteed price of 14.89 d per lb. f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d per cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 7.22 d per lb, f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d.
Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1083 tons, as against 1278 for the preceding week. The quantity in store on Friday was 5486 tons, as against 6446 tons a year ago, a decrease of 960 tons.
Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 1346 tons, as against 1930 tons for the preceding week. The quantity in store was 5936 tons, as against 4535 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee’s estimate of the stocks of all butter in cold store is 1,206,570 boxes, compared with 1,242,877 boxes a year ago. The cheese market was also slow last week, New Zealand white at 63s being Is 6d a cwt lower and coloured at 65s to 66s from Is to 2s a cwt lower. Friday’s closing quotations, with those for the preceding week in parentheses, were as follows: —
New Zealand: White, 64s (64s 6d; a year ago, 69s 6d); coloured, 655, ex 66s (675; a year ago, 69s s 6d).
Australian: White, 59s to 62s (60s to 635); coloured, 61s to 63s (62s to 655).
Canadian: C.i.f., 59s to 60s (645); old season’s white, 74s to 75s (74s to 755); old season’s coloured, 75s (755). The retail price of New Zealand cheese is unchanged at 8d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 13,121 crates, as against 15,299 crates for the preceding week. The quantity in store was 87,804 crates, compared with 68,601 crates a year ago.
Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 4771 boxes, the quantity in store being 95,260 boxes, as against 70,390 boxes a year ago. Cheese gradings in New Zealand for the week ended July 15 were 227 crates of white and 228 crates of coloured, a total of 455 crates.
