Mako braced up briefly in the third set and his shots temporarily were as accurate as Quist’s. The Australian broke out in rash errors in the third set and Mako led 3/2. But Quist rallied and started rushing the net again volleying past Mako and angling overhead shots accurately. Mako played his best tennis of the tournament ■ but Quist was far too good.
