The port of Calais, famous for its old quarters and its modern Hotel de Ville with magnificent clock tower, is also a musical centre of the North of France. This year it has organised a music festival lasting from June until September, and invitations have been sent to all the brass bands of Belgium and France to compete for prizes totalling 45,000 francs.
