BRIEF MEETING
NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING NORMALLY.
SOVIET TRADE DISCUSSION WITH GERMANY.
(Received This Day. 12.40 p.m.) LONDON. July 23
The Moscow correspondent of “The Times” says the conference lasted 75 minutes and no statement was made, though it was said that negotiations were proceeding normally. There will be further meetings shortly. The prospects of the German-Rus-sian trade negotiations are brighter. It is probable that Russia is using the bogey of a rapprochement with Germany to assist in the AngloFrench negotiations, at the same time reinsuring her western frontier by friendliness to the Reich.
