TROOPS AMBUSHED
BY KIDNAPPING GANG IN PALESTINE. SOLDIER KILLED & FOUR WOUNDED. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day. 9 a.m.) ■JERUSALEM, July 23. Armed Arabs, believed to be members of the gang which kidnapped Gerald Goldmer. ambushed a party of British soldiers south of Hebron, killing one and wounding four. Goldmer has notified his father, the Rev Jacob Goldmer. as follows: "Dear Pops, I am fine and being well treated. Hope to see you tomorrow." The father was captured with Gerald but was released.
A cablegram last week reported that Mr Goldmer. an American missionary, had been kidnapped by armed Arabs in the hills between Bethlehem and the Dead Sea, A ransom of £l.OOO was demanded.
