WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT OPAKI. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Opaki Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting recently at the home of Mrs Wingate. A most interesting talk was given by Mrs Alexander on the Diggers’ Market. Miss lorns gave a demonstration on the making of Feltex knitting bag which was much appreciated. The competitions resulted as follows: —Pikelets: Mrs Cooper, 1: Mrs Harris, 2. Jug cover: Mrs Wyeth, 1; Mrs Harris, 2; Mrs Cooper and Miss Rollo, 3.

For the “Golden Thread” Miss Robinson read a most interesting article on “The Historic West Coast.”

The monthly motto, “Keep your face to the sunshine, the shadows will fall behind you,” was given and beautifully illustrated by Miss Rollo. Mrs Harris invited the Institute to meet at her hdme, “Oaklea,” Opaki Road, for the next meeting on August 3.
