EKETAHUNA
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT RONGOKOKAKO. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Rongokokako Women’s Institute Mrs Sigvertsen presided over a large attendance and welcomed four new members. The Ode to Friendship was sung and the prayer for peace read. A very interesting demonstration was given by Mrs O’Neil on the making a humpty out of a cheese crate, this being watched with keen interest by all present. The competitions resulted as fol-low:—-Knitted singlet (these to be sent to the Salvation Army Home in Wellington): Mrs G. Farrow 1, Miss E. Sigvertsen 2. Best bloom: Miss E. Sigvertsen (delphinium) 1, Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen (chrysanthemum) 2. A skill test was won by Mrs S. Smith. The competitions were kindly judged by Mrs Simpson for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks as was Mrs O’Neil. The hostesses, Mesdames Smith, Payne and McAnulty, served a dainty afternoon tea after which the singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant gathering to a close. GOLF CLUB WEEKEND COMPETITIONS. The following is the draw for the second round of the White Cup to be played at the weekend: —A. Wilson or Bouzaid v Tuckett; Anderson v Quinlivan; Mcßride v D. Fraser; Marenzi v M. Wilson; Henderson v Higginson; Murray v Connor; Brown v Liardet; Pryde v H. Walton. The following is the draw for the second round of the Southey Cup to be played during the weekend, commencing at 1.15 p.m.:—Mrs Henderson v Miss Herbert; Miss P. O’Regan v Miss Dickson; Mrs Dickson v Miss Angus; Mrs Reed v Miss Boyes; Mrs Berney v Miss Carrick; Miss Greathead v Miss E. Simmers; Miss A. Simmers v Miss E. O’Donnell; Miss H. Fraser a bye. The match which was to have been played at the weekend between Eketahuna and Pongaroa has been postponed. BASKETBALL SENIOR RESULTS. The following are the results of t'he senior matches played during the past week: —Stars A 23 v Stars B 7; Mangamaire 6 v Hukanui 27; Tuis 16 v Konini 35; Eketahuna 11 v Stars A 21; Mangamaire 5 v Konini 52; Hukanui 12 v Stars B 13. There will be no senior games next Monday.
