“KING=HALL NEWS LETTER”
DISTRIBUTION IN GERMANY. BRITAIN NOT RESPONSIBLE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Dav. 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY. July 21. Mr R. A. Butler (Foreign Under-Se-cretary) was questioned in the House ci Commons about German allegations that the distribution of “the King-Hall News Letter” in Germany was being undertaken with Britain's support and he was asked whether he would take steps to make the truth about this known to Germany. Mr Butler replied: “Yes. and I take this opportunity of repeating the categorical denial, given in the British Breadcasting Corporation’s German broadcast on July 14, that Britain is in any way connected with or responsible for these letters. Commander KingHall himself published a letter in the press on Wednesday last stating it was completely untrue that he was in the pay of the Foreign Office or that Viscount Halifax had assisted him in the composition of his letters.
