REFUSAL TO LEAVE HOTEL

MAN ON SOCIAL SECURITY FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. July 21. “You should be ashamed of yourself, knocking round hotels when you are on social security. That is all I have got to say to you.” said Mr W. T. Stilwell, S.M., to Thomas Morgan, who pleaded guilty to a charge of refusing to leave licenced premises when requested to do so. The police indicated that a barman refused to serve Morgan on account of his age, also because of the fact that he was showing signs of intoxication. The manager also asked him to leave, but he adopted a threatening attitude and refused with the result that a constable was called, and he was eventually ejected, blit later tried to come back. ’

Morgan said he had put down money for a drink, and was not given his change back. He told the constable he was waiting for his change. He was fined £1 and. in asking for time to pay the fine, said he was on social security.
