WRESTLING

A DRAWN BOUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ July 21. Wrestling before a packed audience in the Palmerston North Opera House. "King Kong” Cox and Paul Jones drew. Jones securing a fall in the fourth round and Cox one in the seventh. The contest went the full eight rounds. MATCH AT MASTERTON. Wrestling enthusiasts in the Wairarapa who have followed the performance of the various men imported by the Dominion Union this season have been particularly impressed by the reports of the displays' given by Paul (Bombshell) Boesch and Jim (Dazzler) Clarke. Consequently the meeting of these two men in the Masterton ring on Tuesday night is being looked forward to with keen anticipation. Clarke has been in New Zealand since the commencement of the season and his popularity has grown with every match, while his calibre has been proved by the tough battles which he has put up against all kinds of opposition. He is a film believer in fast and aggressive action, and it is part of his campaign to allow his opponent absolutely no rest. Clarke has all these qualities, and he also has a sound knowledge of the scientific side of the sport, being never so dangerous as when his rugged tactics have unsettled his opponent and produced the opportunity for one of the many fallwinning measures that he can exploit so expertly. Boesch was recalled for his second tour of the Dominion because of his great popularity in 1936, when there was no greater box-office attraction in the country. Stronger, tougher, and heavier than before, he is at the peak of his form and his many spectacular manoeuvres have never before been executed with such daring and dazzling brilliance. Boesch’s dropkick is a thing wrestling fans will go a long way to sec, and this difficult manoeuvre is carried out with the neat efficiency that marks all of his work. Box plans are now open at Orange’s, Queen Street, and Colson's. Carterton. and early booking is advised.
