RUGBY FOOTBALL DRAW FOR COWAN CUP. ("Times-Age” Special.) The following is the draw for the Cowan Cup fixtures on Saturday: — Senior Hamua v Konini. at Pahiatua. at 3 p.m. Hukanui v Mangatainoka. at Eketahuna. at 3 p.m. Junior Pahiatua v Marima. at Pahiatua. at 1.30 p.m. Eketahuna v Nireaha. at Eketahuna, at 1.30 p.m. The following is the draw for the third round of the third grade championship: —Hukanui v’ -Rahiatua A. at Hukanui, at 2.30 p.m. Eketahuna v Pahiatua B. at Hamua. at 2.30 p.m. Nireaha v Mangatainoka, at Nireaha, at 1.30 p.m. The Eketahuna High School team defeated Pahiatua in the seven-a-side final at Pahiatua on Friday. The game was played as a curtain raiser to the Bush v Poverty Bay match in which Bush won by 14 points to six. FANCY DRESS PARTY GATHERING AT NIREAHA. Goss, “Dave.” At a suitable interval, Nora Pryde thanked the Women’s Institute for the party and the parents for the interest which they had taken in the gathering. She called on Ruth Golder to present to the president of the Institute, Mrs G. Shannon, a beautiful posy, and then called for cheers for the members of the Institute. Mrs Shannon, who on rising to reply, was greeted with cheers, thanked the children, the parents and Mr Duncan and Mrs Dysart. The teachers, she said, had spared much of their time to train the children, and to them the Women’s Institute was indebted.
Supper was provided under ; the supervision of Mrs Watkins, assisted by Mesdames Duncan, Hawkins. Davis, Stewart and Drysdale. RED CROSS SOCIETY HOME NURSING CLASS. At a meeting of the local branch of the Red Cross Society a home nursing class was formed under the direction of Nurse Carrick. A social committee was formed with the object of organising the club’s activities on the lighter side. STORE SHEEP AND EWES KEEN DEMAND AT SALE. At the Eketahuna stock sale yesterday the demand for store sheep anc ewes in lamb was keen and prices were in advance of those ruling recently. ■
