GIRL GUIDES ANNUAL MEETING
("Times-Age" Special.)
At the ninth annual meeting of the Martinborough branch-of Girl Guides Mrs Blundell presided over a fair attendance. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted. It was shown that the finances were in a healthy state, and that both the Guides and the Brownies had had a very full year. The following officers were elected: —President. Mrs A. C. Caselew Secretary, Miss H. McNally; Committee. Mesdames Blundell. W. J. Martin. Pain. Griffiths. Mason. W. B. Martin. Tyler. D. Camcron, E. C. Evans. S. Boyd. Jolly. Hewitt and Kershaw. Delegates to Featherston-Martinborough executive —Mesdames Caseley. W. B. Martin. Blundell, Boyd and Jolly. A vote of thanks to Mrs Blundell, who has been President for the past nine years, was proposed by Mrs W. B. Martin, and carried with acclamation. LADIES’ GOLF DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The following is the draw for the ladies’ competition on Saturday:—A grade:—Miss K. Martin v Mrs Parsons. Mrs Wall v Miss Hancox; Mrs McLeod v Miss Baker; Mrs McConnell v Miss Harvey; Mrs Moore v Mrs Baker; Miss Kershaw v Miss Jury; Mrs Knell v Miss Mahood; Mrs Marflitt v Miss Stewart; Mrs Caseley v Mrs Knutson. C Grade: —Miss McDonald v Mrs McWilliam; Mrs Kitching v Mrs Willis; Mrs Sadd v Miss Harding; Mrs Skill v Mrs Beveridge; Mrs Boyd v Mrs Arthur. Players must be off the first tee by 1 p.m. NATIONAL PARTY SUCCESSFUL DANCE. The National Party dance held last evening in the Town Hall was a very successful affair, visitors being present from all over the Wairarapa. Udy’s Orchestra supplied the music and Mr A. Beveridge acted as M.C. The hall had been decorated with gaily coloured streamers and balloons, and the supper room tables looked very effective with small bowls of flowers. The winners of the novelty dances were:—Monte Carlo, Mr Hayman and Miss M. Davidson; Lucky Spot, Mr and Mrs C. Johns; Lucky Ticket, Mr Benton and partner. Extras were played by Mr C. Moore, T. Udy and Miss N. Prussing. Personal Items. Friends from far and near attended the funeral of the late Mr C. Rutherford which took place on Wednesday afternoon at the new cemetery. The Rev. J. Mann officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were: Messrs K. McLeod, R. McLeod, A. Sutherland, A. Wright, R. Jennings and J. Howatt. Mrs Spiers, Dyerville, is visiting Timaru.
Mrs Hardcastle will return to Wellington during the weekend, having been the guest of Mrs L. Harris, Dyerville, for several weeks.
