The Reserve Bank of New Zealand announces that, in order to provide in as satisfactory a manner as possible for the requirements of the Dominion, forms of application for remittances in payment for licensed imports are being distributed to the trading banks throughout the country. Importers desiring to remit in respect of imports licensed for the first or second half of the current year should therefore make the necessary application for overseas funds through their bankers on the form provided for the purpose. In order that the importers concerned may not be involved in unnecessary delay in completing their arrangements, applications should be submitted at the earliest possible moment, and in no case later than Wednesday. August 2, except where the relative import licences have not been received by that date.
Applications for remittances for purposes other than payment for licensed imports will continue to be.received as hitherto; but holders of unused or partially used permits who desire to remit are requested to arrange with their bankers for the relative forms to be -submitted to the Reserve Bank in order that the approximate dates when such remittances can be provided may as far as possible, be decided.
It is understood that arrangements have been made for the forms of application for remittances mentioned in the Reserve Bank’s statement to be available by the beginning of next week, even at the more distant branches of the trading banks.
