A GREAT LOSS

DEATH OF MR C. E. DANIELL. POWER BOARD TRIBUTES. (“Times-Age” Special.) “I ask members of this board to join with me in expressing sympathy with the family of the late Mr C. E. Daniell, whose loss as a citizen is a great blow to the Wairarapa,” said the chairman of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board (Mr A. C. Pearce) at yesterday's meeting of the board. “Mr Daniell was a man who had a great sense of duty,” said Mr Pearce. “His services to the public have been shown by his activities on many organisations, boards, and councils, and he was truly a public man. I would like also to make special reference to his activities for the church, where he left his mark. Whatever he took up, his influence was always a great factor' and help. This board has special interest in the late Mr Daniell in that he attended the first meeting of the investigation committee on November 17, 1916, and attended all meetings of that committee until 1919. His wise counsel and that of others laid the foundation of what we have today in the Wairarapa Electric Power Board’s reticulation.”

Members stood as a mark of respect, and Mr F. C. Daniell, a board member and a son of the late Mr Daniell, returned thanks on behalf of the family.
