Rangitikei Hunt Club Meeting
EXCELLENT FIELDS WILL CONTEST
PROGRAMME
FORM OF HORSES REVIEWED
(BY “CARBINE.”)
Excellent fiields will contest the Rangitikei Hunt Club’s meeting which is to be held tomorrow. Chief interest will be centred round the Rangitikei Hunt Cup Steeplechase, a distance of two and a half miles. Blue Tiger, who won handsomely at Dannevirke and who fell at Hawke’s Bay, is a competitor, as is Lactose, winner at the recent Otaki-Maori meeting. 12.0— 2.0—
The Glenmore Maiden race presents a formidable front to the punter, as many of the horses have not much form to go on. Kaiwaka is a horse worthy of note and so is Laughing Chief. Vaals Queen and The Smiler will probably find support. Valiant Lady will be popular and should not be far away at the finish. In an open event the public’s fancy may include Kaiwaka Vaals Queen Valiant Lady 12.40—
Bing Boy is a class horse but may be in need of a race or two. Artful Dodger is in form and the distance should be about right. Princess Isabel might receive support although she has not been in action for a while. A good win to The Tramp at Napier Park on June 3 should find that horse support. Gold on Memory ran a good second to Mount Vai at Trentham and will not be without support. -Hunting Lore and Helios can be depended on to make the going hard. Car Leaf and Tigreterre are sure' to' find support. In ah'’open' race supported horses may include
The Tramp Golden Memory Tigreterre
Screen Star, who will carry topweight in this race, is a form horse who will be sure to gain public favour. Morning- Flight will also command respect as will Colfort. Vivacious has been running the leaders close lately and might upset calculations. Snigger is due for a win, and this might be the race as the distance looks about right. Donegal might want a race on two be fore striking form, and Red Chief has not won in the last three starts. Of the rest Little Robin does not impress nor does Haupongi. Horses finding favour may include
Screen Star Morning Flight Snigger
A brilliant win in the Dannevirke Hunt Cup Steeplechase will probably make Blue Tiger a firm favourite in the Rangitikei Hunt Cup Steeplechase, although the weight increase is considerable. Blue Tiger failed at Hawke’s Bay last week. Glenvane must be given every chance and is expected to be well up in the run home. Lactose is not to be overlooked, while Count Willonyx is a definite candidate. Lady Callaghan, Kikiroki and Royal King can be depended on to give the top weights a run for it. and in the struggle for positions they should be handy. Of the others Umpire, Sir Acre and Car Leaf look the best. Support, however, may be offering for Blue Tiger Glenvane Count Willonyx 2.40—
The Riddiford Handicap should provide one of the 'best events on the programme. Mittie has the honour of carrying top-weight, but might require a race or two to loosen up. Export has not been successful in recent starts. Quadroon must be given a chance and will probably find plenty of support. Mataroa failed at Trentham but can be expected to make the race interesting. Winsome Lu and Sporting Gift are both good horses and should be liked. Reipar ran nowhere at Hawke's Bay but must still be considered. Cuisinier and Ruling Spi at the weights are good bets and when the numbers go up these runners might be close. Support may come for
Quadroon Mataroa Winsome Lu
Trevelyn Hold 10 9 Tigreterre ..10 7 Moonlight Bay 10 7 Kohika carried 11.12 to victory in the Akitio Lady's Bracelet at Dannevirke and should again give a good account of himself. Lacan won with 10.7 up at Hawke’s Bay last week and is sure to receive a fair share of public favour. Inheritance will also be handy, while Gladium and Moonlight Bay should make the race interesting. Baron Bold looks the best of the others and public favour may include
Lucullus Boy has been running into places lately and is overdue for a win. He is in fine form and should not be without backers. Liberal’s Mint is also a form runner who must be given every chance. Screen Star is entered in a previous race, but if started will not bo without friends. Conversion might upset calculations although this horse has not been successful of late. Gay Hunting, if the going is heavy, will have friends. while Maturity might be fancied. Horses finding favour mav be
Lucullus Boy Liberal's Mint Gay Hunting
