WELLINGTON BEGONIA HOUSE

GIFT OF £2OO FROM LADY NORWOOD. Lady Norwood had offered £2OO as a gift to the Wellington City Council to improve the begonia house in the botanical gardens, said the mayor, Mr Hislop, at an adjourned meeting of the council yesterday. Mr Hislop said he had written to Lady Norwood accepting her gift, saying that he would have an investigation made to see how best the improvements could be made. “With this splendid lead we may get additional funds and put in some ourselves and get an excellent result,” said Mr Hislop. The council passed a motion expressing appreciation of Lady Norwood’s generosity.
