COMING OF AGE

GATHERING AT CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Saturday last a very pleasant time was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs F. H. Taplin, Rutland Road. Carterton, to celebrate the coming of age of their only daughter, Ethel. Dancing was indulged in to music supplied by a sound system, owned and operated by Mr S. Heginbotham, which was greatly enjoyed by all. At a suitable interval Mr Taplin presented his daughter with a gold key and the freedom of the house, after which she cut the beautiful birthday cake amidst applause and musical honours. The guest of honbur suitably replied. A most enjoyable evening came to a close at midnight with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
