WAIRARAPA & RUAHINE CLUB. OVERHAUL OF PLANES. A meeting of the committee of th<* Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club was held in the clubhouse at the Hood Aerodrome last night. In the absence of the president. Mr A. McDonald, who is indisposed. Mr E. A. Heydc-r (vice president) occupied the chair. A total of 28 hours 55 minutes was flown in June, according to the flying report tabled. Compared with the corresponding month of the previous year a small increase was shown. It was reported that ZKADL had been completely overhauled in the aerodrome workshop and a renewal oi certificate of airworthiness had been granted for 12 months. ZKAGB was at present in the workshop undergoing annual overhaul. Advice had been received that the identification letters for the new MothMinor which had been ordered woulc be ZKAHN. It was anticipated that de livery of the new plane would be mad< before the commencement of the sum mer flying season. The committee expressed its sympathy with Mr John Morrison and Mi McDonald (pilot-instructor), who were injured in the recent mishap and hopec they would both have a rapid recovery. During the weekend Mr J. R. Frank lin. of Porangahau, brought his new Taylor Cub to the Hood Aerodrome and a number of flights were made lithe machine by club pilots, who ex pressed themselves as delighted with the plane's flying characteristics anc: ease of handling. An interesting letter was received from Mr D. A. Todd, who is now sta Honed at the R.A.F. Advanced Training School at Hullavington, Chippenham. England. Mr A. C. L. Forsberg, of Maurice ville, has been approved for enrolment in the Civil Reserve of Pilots. The selection committee of the New Zealand Air Force visited Masterton or. July 13 and selected a number of ap plicants to appear before the Medical Board for enrolment in the Civil Re serve of Pilots. Three new members were electee and one transfer from the pilot members’ register to the ordinary members register was approved.
