YOUNG FARMERS
ALFREDTON CLUB ACTIVITIES. MEETING AND FIELD DAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Alfredton Young Farmers’ Club held its monthly meeting on Wednesday night, in the Alfredton Hall. Mr H. Edmonds presiding over a good attendQ C? of members. competition, which is in its semi-finals, the Tinui Club will meet Alfredton, the members choosing their team.
Correspondence was read from the Provincial Council, asking all clubs for a donation or funds to enable the winning debating team to go to Ruakura and debate in the North Island championship. It was arranged to hold a social and dance to raise funds in aid of this cause.
It was decided to accept an offer from the Alfredton Dog Trial Association for the members of the Alfredton Young Farmers’ Club to run one dog each in the annual trials, free of charge, provided they enter in another event. A trophy has been donated for the Young Farmers’ Club member securing most points in the huntaway event.
On June 21 the members of the Alfredton Young Farmers’ Club held their annual fiield day on Mr H. N. Kebbell’s property, Nga Rata. Mr Kebbell showed the advantages of hill country top dressing and cultivation with a tractor. Members asked many questions. Mr and Mrs Kebbell entertained the Young Farmers at morning and afternoon tea.
A hearty vote of thanks was passed by the president. Mr Harold Edmonds, to Mr Kebbell for the instructive day they had spent on his property, and to Mrs Kebbell for her kind hospitality.
