MARTINBOROUGH
FIRE BRIGADE MEMBERS ANNUAL REUNION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual reunion of the Fire Brigade, was held in the supper room of the Town Hall last evening. Conditions on the Rimutaka Hill prevented visitors from the Hutt district attending but there were present representatives from Featherston, Greytown and Carterton. Fireman T. Loveridge received a 25 years’ service gold star. Foreman Reg. Feist received a 6th year bar and Secretary 7 T. Boyd a 3 years’ service certificate. Items byMessrs G. MacLennan and P. Lynch and F. Duffy helped to pass the time pleasantly. A number of toasts were honoured. , OBITUARY MR CHARLES RUTHERFORD. The death occurred yesterday at the Greytown Hospital of Mr Charles Rutherford, of Ruawaki, Martinborough, at the age of 74 years. Mr Rutherford who was a native of Australia, had been a resident of Martinborough district for about 20 years. He has no relatives in New Zealand. Personal Items. Mr O. Grant is in Wellington for a week recovering from his recent operation. Mr Tulloch, who has recently been an inmate of Tiri Hospital, is staying with his sister at Carterton. Mr Tom Duffy, of the staff of the local Post Office, is at present relieving at Pirinoa owing to Mr Thomas being confined to his bed. Mr and Mrs Welch, of the Nelson district, are visitors to Martinborough. Mr C. Smith, of Pukio, Dyerville. recently- returned from a holiday spent in the South Island.
Mr R. McGaffin will leave this week on a tour of the North Island.
