AT LONDON WOOL SALES

CROSSBREDS IN CONTINUED DEMAND. PRICES HIGHER ALL ROUND IN BRADFORD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 17. At the wool sales, 8,494 bales were offered, including 5,753 from New Zealand, and 7,276 were sold. A moderate selection, chiefly of crossbreds, met with a sustained demand at steady rates. Slipes were frequently withdrawn owing to firm limits. Quotations: —New Zealand scoured crossbred, Hexton, 13d. ■ On the Bradford market Merinos and crossbreds are both dearer. The full output of crossbreds has been sold for three months ahead. There is more business in Merinos. GOOD GENERAL COMPETITION. Messrs Levin and Co Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated July 17, 1939: — “The auctions are proceeding at the level of the opening day with the exception of greasy crossbreds which are fully 5 per cent to 7J per cent lower. Good general competition is being well maintained. The following ‘prices are current:--Merino, super, 14Jd to 15d, average, Hid to 12Jd; fine halfbred, super 56/58s, 11 id to 12d, average, lljd to ll"d; medium halfbred, super 50/565, Hid to 12d, average ll.|d to 113 d; extra fine crossbred, super 48/50s, ll : ;d to 12Jd, average, 11-ld to 12d; fine crossbred, super 46/48s, llid to 12d, average, lid to lljd; medium crossbred, super 44/465, llid to 12d; average, lid to Hid; coarse crossbred, super 40/445, Hid to 12d, average, lid to Hid; low crossbred, super 36/40s. llid to 12d, average, lid to llid; pieces, 81d to 9d; bellies, 71d to 8d; locks, 5d to s!d.
