KILLED INSTANTLY
PASSENGER IN MOTOR CAR. COLLISION WITH LORRY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) LEVIN. July 17. A fatal accident occurred about four miles north of Levin, on the main Levin-Foxton highway, at about 6.30 o'clock tonight. Mr B. R. Way, married, a passenger in a car driven by Mr J. Hayfield, was killed instantly when the car struck a stationary mo-tor-lorry owned by Mr B. Everton, and driven by Mr J. T. A. Marchant. Just prior to the collision, it is stated, the lights of the lorry failed, and the driver stopped to investigate the trouble. Mr Hayfield was driving to Levin, and dipped his lights for an approaching vehicle.
The whole of the left-hand side of the car was shattered and twisted by the force’ of the impact. Mr Hayfield had a narrow escape. The left-hand sleeve of his overcoat was torn, and his left side was bruised.
